The Azerbaijani manat (AZN) is the official currency of Azerbaijan, introduced into circulation in 1992 after gaining independence from the Soviet Union. One manat is subdivided into 100 qəpik. The currency symbol is "₼", and the ISO 4217 code is AZN. Banknotes are available in denominations of 1, 5, 10, 20, 50, 100, and 200 manats, while coins come in denominations of 1, 3, 5, 10, 20, and 50 qəpik. The design of the banknotes and coins reflects themes related to the history, culture, and architecture of Azerbaijan. The banknotes feature images of important historical figures such as Nizami Ganjavi and national symbols like the Maiden Tower in Baku and depictions of ancient buildings.
