Currency American dolar
The US dollar ($ USD) is the official currency of the United States. It is also used as legal tender in, among others, Puerto Rico, Micronesia, Panama, El Salvador, Zimbabwe and Ecuador. From 1990 the value of the dollar was based on the gold standard. It was not until 1973 that the link between the value of gold and the US dollar was abolished completely. The central bank for the US dollar is the Federal Reserve. The term "dollar" was originally used for one ounce of silver in the form of a coin struck by Count Schlick in the 16th century. Thanks to the quality of their workmanship, these coins won recognition and became widespread. Since 1861 it has been permitted to use any money ever issued in the USA.
